Woodditton Kitchen : 2012
With plans for an extension and a desire to create a really stunning open plan living space for family and friends to socialize in, our client spent many months looking at different kitchens from traditional to contemporary and decided that Kitchenology and Alno fitted their requirements perfectly.
By using groups of units of different sizes this large space is full of interest and retains a very open feel.
Sink areas can be very dull, but not this one! Located in Fly units under the window the area is bathed in the subtle glow of concealed LED lighting under the sill. The run continues with the mid height dishwasher which is placed so that unloading into the deep drawers in the island unit opposite is a doddle.
Deep drawers on the front of the island provide masses of storage and the illuminated glass door display units on the back complement the stunning Papaya ‘C’ shelf and glass fronted tambour unit in the baking area.
The island also continues the Papaya theme and is home to an array of Miele domino hobs.
Silestone worktops in Kensho accentuate the steely trim of the appliances and provide a perfect top to work on. The stunning Damson planked 78mm peninsular introduces contrast and is perfect for relaxed casual dining.
The in depth product knowledge of our installation team enabled them to complete this installation to a very high finish.
THE KITCHEN – before
When we decided to change our kitchen we were unsure of what style we wanted. In order to get ideas we decided to visit many show rooms as far and wide as Edinburgh, London, Cambridge, Cumbria and Harrogate.
Eventually we arrived at Kitchenology. On arriving at the show room we received a friendly greeting from Jennifer. We were able to look at the displays without any sales pressure. Jennifer was on hand to answer any questions and provide lots of information. At this stage we were still exploring options and styles so left armed with information and continued on our search to find a kitchen we could live with and a company who were able to understand our family requirements, budget and tastes. Jennifer indicated that she was flexible to meet with us when we wanted to suit our busy working and personal lives, and for the design phase it was complimentary part of the process. After further visits to local designers/showrooms we narrowed it down to two suppliers to help with the design process.
We found that Jennifer listened to our requirements, was able to offer suggestions based on practical experience. All the designs were within our budget and we never felt that we were been oversold anything.
Using the planning area we were able to have the time to play with the design Jennifer created, merging the preferred features into our ideal design. During the various consultation meetings Jennifer paced the sessions to ensure that we did become over whelmed with decisions providing us with the space to think, review, an consider our choices. She also advised that for the internal drawer unit features to defer these decisions until after installation so that we would decide what we wanted from using the kitchen, therefore avoiding unnecessary additional expense on unrequired items.
In terms of fitting the installation team where flexible in timing to fit in with the overall building project. The installation happened on time and to plan. With any building project there are always snags afterwards and Tim responded to these immediately.
The finished product is amazing – we are thrilled with our new living space which is very much the heart of our home. With Jennifer’s assistance we have created a wonderful environment where we gather with family and friends.
The reaction from our friends has also been entertaining – one friend was physically speechless as it was so fantastic, friends continually offer positive comments, even our children’s friends offer comments suggesting it’s a great ‘social gathering place’.Woodditton : 2012
