FEBRuary - LIGHT & REFLECTIVE

The Brief

In a space with such potential, our clients wanted to bring their kitchen area to life by injecting light, reflective colours.

With children coming in and out the back door and through the utility room, they also wanted this room to have plenty of storage to hide shoes but carry the look through.

A more family friendly, sociable area that could be enjoyed by everyone was the main focus.

A perfect blend of contemporary and traditional.

THE DESIGN

With their beamed ceiling, the client opted for the AlnoSign, high gloss lacquer in Vanilla with Beige grey used on the tall units to accent the kitchen beautifully.

A matching Corian work surface was used all round, including a raised breakfast bar that can be used for eating on, homework or simply socialising.

By separating the seating area from the cooking area, drinks can still be made when the family returns home, without impacting on the preparation area.

A similar colour scheme was used in the attached utility room and now the entire space feels lighter, brighter and a comfortable place to spend time in.

THE PRODUCTS

The high gloss lacquered cabinetry used in the kitchen bounces light in to all corners.

Our designer used the AlnoPlan doors in the utility room in the same colours as in the main kitchen to carry the look through.

By using a light coloured Corian work surface all round, this lightens the whole kitchen with being hard wearing at the same time.

The client wished to re-use their current oven and hob, but add a hidden fridge freezer, a built in microwave and the very popular coffee machine.

For complete convenience a warming drawer was incorporated beneath the microwave.

THE INSTALLATION

With the benefit of being able to carry out the gas and electrical work ourselves, Kitchenology's experienced installers were able to carry out this transformation quickly and efficiently.

The works we completed included:

  • Removing and replacing existing tiled floor
  • Installation of all cabinetry, appliances, plumbing of sinks and taps.
  • Extend ring main for new appliances in the tall unit
  • Remove and disposal of existing kitchen
  • Re-siting of plug/phone/tv sockets
  • Install new flat screen tv.

The Ultra White is so white it has an almost blue/violet hint and looks wonderful with the new 'Deep Blue' AlnoFine matt lacquer door for a crisp, contemporary contrast.
