After waiting 5 years for a new kitchen it has now been installed, cooked in and is being loved! I had an old style wood kitchen which suited the country cottage feel of the house at the time, but this time I realised I wanted a kitchen where everything was put away, floor units, not wall cupboards and easy to keep clean worktops.
I took time to look at quite a few kitchen showrooms and talk with the in-house planners. The way the kitchens were made and the finish of them were important to me. The opinion I came away with was; in order to have a robust quality kitchen you had to pay for it.
I found the perfect solution in Alno Kitchens and Kitchenology; the professional dealings of the staff enabled my dream to be turned into a reality. To start with I was fed up with lifting things out of wall cupboards to find what I needed was at the back, so drawers were a great alternative. I actually think I may have gone mad on the drawer side but was assured by Jennifer (Kitchenology) that the design was balanced. Each drawer has glass inserted into the side which gives light when opened so everything can be seen.
I like baking so asked for a dropped area along the work surface with drawers underneath to house my flour and tins etc. it’s now a wonderfully cool surface to make pastry and bread. Kitchenology also designed and created a cupboard to fit around a protruding wall, this accommodates my utensils on its large and small shelves, and also houses the dustbin, brilliant! I have another 3 bins neatly fitting under the sink and on runners for easy access, one for small rubbish, one for compost and one large for recycle.
All the kitchen units have a use, the corner cupboard has pull out trays, and small cupboards have doors and shelves. My island is made up of units, drawers and a Spekva Wood breakfast bar for two. I have all new appliances, from ovens to fridge, freezer and hob. I now cook food quicker and with plenty of room! Wonderful.
