From hob to worktop – no trivet required!

People very often ask us whether they can put hot pans on their worktops, if it is a composite worktop such as Corian or Silestone then the answer is no.

This is because the binding agent in composites can scorch or suffer from thermal shock creating hairline cracks in the worktop – but now those clever people at Cosentino (manufacturers of Silestone) have created a worktop where heat is not an issue. This wonderful material is called Dekton and comes in a range of different colours and textures that are completely different to Silestone.
